Tips for Tuesday
It's been quite a while since I've read any fiction, but during some self-imposed rest I brought along "Rooms" by James L. Rubart and I'm so glad I did!
When looking for fiction, I want something beyond clean entertainment; I'm looking for something edifying. I found "Rooms" to be entertaining and thought provoking without being as heavy as a non-fiction read.
"Rooms" main character, Micah Taylor, is a self-made millionaire in the software business who receives a mysterious letter from his great-uncle Archie. In it, this man he never knew claims to have built a house for him on Cannon Beach. Located on the beautiful Oregon coast, Cannon Beach is both a place that Micah loved and a place that he never wants to see again.
Micah goes to the house with the intention of sticking a "For Sale" sign in the yard, never imagining how much he would instantly feel at home there. He feels as though the house is a part of him; in reality, it is him. More specifically, it's a reflection of his heart. Rooms mysteriously appear, reflecting changes he's making in his life.
Micah's journey is a realistic one as he vacillates between two worlds. The reader has the advantage of seeing how choosing to follow God affects life in the world and vice versa. I found it to be a great read - hopefully you will too!

Great review of Jim's book, Lisa! Jim Rubart lives in the same corner of the Northwest as I do and he'll be speaking at our Northwest Christian Writers' Association meeting next Monday. Also, I'll be putting on my other hat as blogservant for NCWA's blog tomorrow and publish a post by Jim.

Love to hear about fiction books that are full of characters and enjoyable without wasting my time. Might have to add this to my list...
