Did you ever play board games when you were a kid?  I remember playing Password, Pyramid (back when it was only $21,000 rather than $100,000 - inflation!) and being fascinated by the red plastic card viewer.

Do you remember those?  There were cards printed in blue and red, and the only way you could read them was to place the card viewer over it to decode the answers. Without the decoder, everything was jumbled and you couldn't make sense out of it.

A friend recently mentioned that before she became a Christian, the things of God made as much sense as those cards without a viewer.  Nothing in life became clear until she began viewing the world through the lens of the Holy Spirit.

When we give control of our life to Jesus and accept Him as Lord (submitting to His authority) and Savior (accepting the gift of Salvation He offers through His death and resurrection), the Holy Spirit makes His home within us. Suddenly, we begin to see in a different way. The Holy Spirit helps us to understand what God is saying to us and why.

It's important that believers remember this when talking with people who are not yet followers of Jesus. We can't expect them to understand "Christianese" or make sense of what God says when they don't have the help of the Holy Spirit.

What a great fit for this week's verse in the *She Sparkles* A-Z Scripture Memory Challenge:

U - Understanding is a fountain of life to those who have it. ~ Proverbs 16:22

That red decoder is a great analogy! And yes, I remember... :)~ Pam

  2. We were a game show family and I loved those red decoders. Even now, I'm captivated by what is hidden on those cards. Lately, I've been equally captivated by the hidden treasures in His word and so grateful for how Holy Spirit brings revelation.
